Last survivor of Asia’s harshest deserts, the Wild Bactrian Camel roams salt flats few creatures dare. Two rugged humps store fat for droughts, and it drinks salty water other mammals shun. Fewer than a thousand remain, threatened by mining, poaching and crossing with domestic herds.
