Details for Wild Bactrian Camel
- Wild Bactrian Camel
The Wild Bactrian Camel (Camelus ferus) is a critically endangered species of camel native to parts of Mongolia and China, distinguished by its two humps. It is a distinct species from the domesticated Bactrian camel and is exceptionally hardy, adapted to extreme desert environments. Wild Bactrian camels can weigh up to 600 kg (1,300 lbs). They are herbivores, foraging on tough desert vegetation. Facing immense pressure from hunting, habitat loss, and hybridization with domestic camels, it is one of the rarest large mammals on Earth.
