- Gorilla
Gorillas are the largest living primates, native to the forests of central and eastern Africa. Two species exist: the Eastern Gorilla and Western Gorilla, each with several subspecies, including the critically endangered Mountain Gorilla and Cross River Gorilla. Gorillas are powerful, intelligent, and gentle giants, known for their broad chests and dark fur (often with silverbacks in adult males). They are primarily herbivorous, feeding on leaves, stems, fruit, and bamboo. Gorillas live in social groups led by a dominant silverback. All gorilla species are endangered or critically endangered due to poaching, habitat loss, and disease.
