- Gibbon
Gibbons are arboreal apes native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, renowned for their incredible agility and vocal abilities. They are known as 'lesser apes' due to their smaller size compared to great apes. Gibbons are master brachiationists, swinging through trees with remarkable speed and grace. They vary in size and coloration, but generally weigh 4-13 kg (9-29 lbs). Gibbons are primarily frugivores, and their loud, complex songs are used for territorial defense and mate attraction. All gibbon species are endangered or critically endangered due to habitat loss and poaching.
