The Argali sheep (Ovis ammon) is the largest species of wild sheep, native to the mountains and highlands of Central Asia. Males are distinguished by their massive, spiraling horns that can form more than a full curl. Argali are robust and powerfully built, weighing up to 180 kg (400 lbs). They are herbivores, grazing on grasses and sedges in alpine meadows and rocky slopes. Argali live in herds and are highly adapted to cold, high-altitude environments. They are considered vulnerable to extinction due to poaching, habitat loss, and competition with domestic livestock.
